The green point stadium is located between the signal hill and Atlantic Ocean in Green Point. If is close to the Cape Town city and to the Victoria and Alfred waterfront. This stadium is referred as African Renaissance Stadium.
The old green point stadium was destroyed fully and in March 2007 the construction work for the new building was started. The stadium is now renovated for the world cup and is planned to be completed before 2009 December.
The stadium has been planned to connect to the waterfront by a new road link and will be bordered by 60 hectare of urban park.
The stadium has undergone some renovation for the football world cup 2010. It is completely transformed to 70.000 seats with multi-purpose, modern equipped tools. The ball rotating over the stadium offers a great marketing value to the African nation. The total coast for the renovation is planned to be around R4.5 billion.
