No extra referees for 2010 world cup says FIFA
FIFA has rejected the idea of having five referees in world cup matches but said that it will investigate on it.
Having two goal line official to keep an close eye on the penalty area was discussed by FIFA. There was a sign that the organization would support the idea but later it decided to stick on to the existing system.
The decision was finalized after a meeting with the executive members in Cape Town.
Sepp Blatter the vice president of FIFA said that "we have decided that for world cup 2010 there will be no change in refereeing. We will have 1 referee and 2 assistants."
FIFA has lined out in introducing the video technology to help the referees like cricket, tennis and ruby matches. But it will also have an open inquiry to find out whether to have an extra technology or to have extra officials.
