Too much asking Fifa
For the 2010 World Cup football's broadcast, SingTel and StarHub is repeatedly rejected on their join bid and insisting any disclosure could jeopardise discussions with Fifa. Friday that wall of silence was devastated.
Allen Lew CEO SingTel Singapore said, “We understand the importance of the World Cup to Singaporeans but Fifa has been asking for an unreasonable amount.”
If this standoff with football’s world governing continues, Mr. Lew warned that Singaporeans will have to formulate do with just four live games on free-to-air television.
The irony is the telcos may be in this connect for the reason that of last year's bidding war for the English Premier League (EPL) TV rights.
According to an industry source, Fifa first quoted a price for a moment last year to both SingTel and StarHub, an amount both telcos previously well thought-out too high.
